We’re also a genuine alternative for those people who wish to move their money from banks that provide finance to the fossil fuel industry. People’s Choice has no equity investments in the fossil fuel sector, nor do we lend directly to companies in those sectors.

We make it simple

We have made it simple and convenient for you to switch your accounts and transfer your regular payments to People's Choice Credit Union. Click on each of the three steps below for more information.

To open your new People's Choice transaction account:

  • Call 13 11 82 or
  • Visit your closest branch by using our Branch Locator
  • Or for existing members, you can open a new transaction account via Internet Banking

Once you've opened your new account, if you haven't already, make switching and managing your money even easier and register for Internet Banking.

Make managing your regular payments easier; shift any income you receive to your People’s Choice account (e.g. your salary, rent income and investment interest) and setup your outgoing payments.

For your convenience, there are two ways to switch your regular payments:

We'll help you switch your regular payments (direct debits and direct credits), using our switching service

  • Complete and return the Request for Regular Payments List form
    • Word version – complete the digital form, print, sign and return
    • PDF version – print, fill out the paper form, sign and return
  • If you are unable to print the form simply call us on 13 11 82 or visit your nearest branch
  • Leave the rest to us. We'll contact you to confirm your Regular Payments List and arrange the transfer of your regular payments

Manually switch your regular payments (direct debits and direct credits), using our simple Easy Switch tool

  • Easy Switch generates letters containing all of your relevant account details which you can send to companies to notify them of the change

Once the switching process is complete, close your old account.

  • Most financial institutions require customers to either phone or physically visit a branch to close their account and don't accept written authorisation
  • If your old financial institution does accept written authorisation, here’s the form you can use to close your old account
